Who can Participate?

  • Completion of the basic course on Universal Treatment Curriculum 

  • Graduation in any disciplines 

  • Recovering persons with minimum 3 years of recovery. 

  • Experience in clinical practice desired. 

Concept Note: 

WISE: Clinical Care for Women with Substance Use Disorders is the first of four courses from the Colombo Plan's Drug Advisory Programme (DAP). This specialised training equips professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to address the unique treatment needs of women with substance use disorders. The curriculum provides practical strategies to effectively identify, assess, and treat women, with the goal of optimizing outcomes and sustaining recovery.

 

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how women’s substance use patterns differ from men’s, and learn to implement comprehensive, evidence-based care plans tailored specifically to women

    Gain insights into how to establish a therapeutic setting that responds to women’s unique needs in recovery.

  • Module 5: Identifying Substance Use Disorders in Women
    Learn evidence-based techniques to identify substance use disorders among women.

  • Module 6: Comprehensive Assessment for Women
    Discover how to create and implement a thorough, individualized assessment plan for female patients.

  • Module 7: Individualized Care Plans for Women
    Develop customized care plans tailored to the specific needs of women in treatment.

  • Module 8: Components of a Comprehensive Treatment Program for Women
    Learn the essential elements of a full-scale treatment program designed for women’s recovery.

  • Module 9: Caring for Women with Co-occurring Disorders
    Understand how to support women dealing with both substance use and mental health disorders.

  • Module 10: Case Management for Women
    Explore strategies for effective case management, ensuring continuous care and support throughout recovery.
